Irregular Verbs in the Present tense

Irregular verbs don't follow the normal spelling pattern when they are conjugated. (Review Regular present tense verbs)
This happens in English too!  Think about the verb “To Be.”   It is conjugated:  I am, you are, he is...etc.
We've already looked at some irregular verbs: Ser  (to Be), Ir  (to Go) and Tener  (to Have).

There are different kinds of irregularities.  Some verbs are irregular in the Yo form.  Other verbs are what we call “stem-changing” verbs.  They really aren't irregular, rather they are a specific type of verb. Stem-changers have vowels which either change to a different vowel or to two vowels when conjugated.  We have already seen one "stem-changing/irregular yo  form verb": Tener!
