Movie Guide

Select a movie from the list accessible through the link at the bottom of this page.  Below is the guide which provides ideas to think about while you watch the movie.  You may want to watch the movie once for the story, and then watch it a second time for the answers to these questions.  Do not retell the entire story;  I've already enjoyed seeing each film.  I am interested in your personal impressions.  Your movie review should be typed double-spaced (in English) and 2-3 pages in length.
1) What was my general overall impression of the movie?
  Did I like it?  Did I not like it? WHY?

2)  What did I notice about the relationships between men and women?  What did I notice about family relationships?  What was the mother's role?  the father's?  the eldest son's?  the daughters'?

3)  What behaviors and daily life rituals seemed the same as ours? What behaviors and attitudes did I notice that are culturally different from ours?  What did I think about them?

4)   What scene didn't I like?  Why?

5)  What scene did I really like?  Why?

6) What does the film reveal about the country where the characters live or are from? 

7)  What didn't I understand?  What seemed really "foreign" to me?

8) Was there humor?  Was it different from American movies?

9)    Could I catch any of the Spanish?  Could I tell if the
  accents were different than what I have heard?

10)  Anything else I found interesting and why.
